Chapter 235 235: Morning Scuffle.
"Of course..." Emilia said before getting up.
'There it is again...' Su Ping's gaze was elevated once more after hearing her reply; that same feeling in him was telling him that something definitely wasn't right with her today, but he just couldn't put his finger on it.
"Thanks, Emilia," Lilia collected the serving with both hands.
Emilia merely nodded with a smile before sitting down.
Lilia paused momentarily, seemingly absent-minded. She stared at Emilia momentarily before sitting back down.
'There's definitely something going on...' Only after seeing the interaction between them did Su Ping realize that something was definitely amiss. While he never paid much attention to her, he still knew that at the very least, Emilia was on friendly terms with both women in this household—no, to be specific, all of them, including the Wolf King.
'Could they have fought?' he wondered but quickly denied it. 'If something like that had happened, there'd be no way one of them would be acting amicably. It must mean that the fault should be from Emilia, then. Did something happen to her, perhaps?'
'Is she still displeased with what happened with the hybrids?' This thought found its way into his head. This time around, he didn't deny it since it seemed quite plausible; after all, he'd deliberately done nothing while the zombie kings went against her.
'Well, if it were me that my boss treated that way, I'd definitely be upset.' He couldn't help recalling his time as a doorman. Although he'd never been treated badly by his colleagues since he was adaptive and an easy-going person at the time.
'I did promise Melinda to be nicer to the both of them, so I guess it can't be helped.' Su Ping let out a light breath.
"Emilia, I can't help but notice that you seem bothered... Care to share with the rest of us?" Su Ping said, drawing the attention of all the adults at the dining table—the Wolf King especially, since she'd never seen him act this observant towards any one of them.
'Offering her an apology should clear everything up. The quicker she's back to her usual self, the better; after all, I'll need everyone to be in peak condition for what's about to come.' he said to himself, not really sure it would work, but it was worth a try.
'If she still can't let it go, then I might need to summon another creature in her place... I won't have what I've built so far be destroyed once more.'
"I'm sorry if I did anything to ruin your meal... But I'm afraid I must say that there's absolutely nothing bothering me," Emilia said with a smile, only this time, with his sharp eyes, the Dragon King could tell that this smile was definitely forced.
"I have no qualms with you lying... but I'd rather not have you lying in front of my children." The hairs on Lilia's body stood on end all of a sudden; she felt as if she could feel an ominous aura permeating from the man across the dining table, but strangely she also noticed that the children were oblivious to it.
Su Ping hadn't released his aura or pressure at all; this was merely his displeasure leaking out. Fortunately, he was quick enough to stop it from reaching his children.
If there was one thing Su Ping disliked, it was being treated as a fool. To have the gall to lie to his face in front of others was definitely something that could piss him off, not to mention that he never expected it to come from her.
Emilia sensed his displeasure, but unlike the countless times before, this time her expression remained the same, as if she couldn't care less.
Su Ping turned silent for a while before speaking.
"I see..." To everyone's surprise, Su Ping stood up from his seat right after.
"D-Daddy?" Mel snapped out of her food, staring at her father.
"I'm sorry, my dear, but it seems I've lost my appetite," Su Ping said with a light smile before using a napkin to clean his mouth, which he placed on the table afterwards. His meal wasn't even half eaten.
Lilia had a worried look on her face, while the Wolf King was silent; the both of them could definitely tell that Su Ping was very much displeased—displeased to the point of ending a rare session where he could spend some time with his offspring.
"Yu An... Once you're done, come meet me at the place we met yesterday. I'm afraid I still need your help with a few things."
The Wolf King nodded before he left the abode right after.
Once he was gone, both women turned towards Emilia, but the latter said nothing, merely partaking in her meal.
She soon finished her meal, but even then, she said not a word.
"Emilia," but that was when someone else called her name.
"Morning, Mommy," the children said happily.
"Morning, my angels," Melinda said with a smile from the stairway, but shortly after, her gaze shifted back to Emilia.
"Could we talk? Just the two of us," she said with a light smile.
This time around, Emilia nodded her head.
"Lilia, can you please—" Melinda was about to ask Lilia if she could help clean up afterwards while she talked with Emilia, but...
"Say no more. Just leave it to me," Lilia cut her off midway with a smile. She understood that Melinda calling for Emilia must be regarding what happened just now. Knowing her, she was sure she only intended to help; if all she had to do was clean up the dining table afterwards, she'd gladly do that to help her friend.
Gaining her verbal agreement, Melinda gave Lilia a thankful smile before she and Emilia headed upstairs.
"Let's talk in your room," said Melinda the moment they got upstairs.
"Alright," Emilia was confused by her suggestion for a moment but agreed nonetheless.
Melinda unconsciously let out a sigh of relief after she agreed.
